CRIMINAL ASPECTS OF MEDICAL PRACTICE IN NIGERIA

Andy Nzuba Udoji

Abstract

This paper examines what circumstances the misconduct of medical practitioners in Nigeria will leave the realm of ordinary malpractice and graduate to a crime under selected statutes. The study identifies some problems associated with the administration of criminal justice in Nigeria in this regard and proffers some solutions. The main aim is to open the eyes of the average medical (and indeed, healthcare) practitioner in Nigeria to the existence of these laws and help curb the excesses of those practitioners who are determined to break the law, no matter what.
