GREEN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY: AN EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE FROM TRANSCORP HOTELS PLC, ABUJA, NIGERIA

DRIUS MATHIAS IGOMU

Abstract

This study aimed investigated the effect of green human resource management practices on environmental sustainability in Transcorp Hotels Plc, Abuja, Nigeria. The study sample consisted of 357 employees, and three null hypotheses were tested (1) Green Recruitment does not lead to Environmental Sustainability, (2) Green Training does not lead to Environmental Sustainability, and (3) Green Reward and Compensation does not lead to Environmental Sustainability. The hypotheses were tested using PLS-SEM and the results showed that the null hypotheses for Green Recruitment and Green Training were not supported, indicating that these practices do have a significant positive impact on environmental sustainability. However, the null hypothesis for Green Reward and Compensation was accepted, revealing that this practice does not have a significant positive impact on environmental sustainability. These findings suggest that organizations should focus on implementing effective green reward and compensation practices to promote environmental sustainability. The study provides valuable insights for hospitality organizations on the effectiveness of different green human resource management practices in promoting environmental sustainability.
