LANGUAGE ADAPTABILITY IN IMMIGRANT SITUATIONS

Orji Dereck-M Akachukwu

Abstract

The study investigates how immigrants adapt to or learn how to speak the
language of the country they migrated to. Attempts have been made to explain the
difficulties and challenges of communication they face in their host countries.
This study adopts a descriptive method in analyzing the communication
difficulties and language adaptation of immigrants. The objective of this paper is
to provide solutions as to how immigrants can adapt to the main languages used
for communication in their host countries or learn the language of their host
country through language programmes and several processes.
