Inculcating Christian Morals, Ethics and Human Values in an Increasingly Secular Academy

Abstract

Contemporary higher education is increasingly shaped by secularism, pluralism, technological advancement, and moral ambivalence. Amid these shifts, the question of value-based education becomes urgent, especially within contexts historically framed by Christian moral and ethical foundations. This article examines the relevance and possibility of inculcating Christian morals, ethics, and human values in an academy drifting toward secular ideologies. It argues that Christian ethical principles rooted in Scripture, natural law, and centuries of intellectual tradition offer enduring frameworks for character formation, social responsibility, and human flourishing. Using mainly published and unpublished literary works with descriptive method of data analysis, the work highlights the challenges posed by secularism, presents practicable strategies for integrating Christian values in educational spaces, and concludes by reaffirming the indispensable role of Christian ethical vision in shaping holistic, morally grounded academic communities.
