A Review of the Applications in Text Mining and Natural Language Processing (NLP)

Abstract

Data is used to make decisions in different facet of our lives, many organizations depend on it. Data are broadly categorized into two types; quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative data are the most common types of data used in research often referred to as numerical data. The emergence of machine learning and Artificial intelligence has spurred the use of quantitative data for research. Examples of qualitative data are audio, video, text etc. This article describes the differences between text mining and natural language processing. Applications areas and limitations of NLP were also highlighted.
