STRATEGIES FOR DEVELOPING AND SUSTAINING ENTREPRENEURSHIP GROWTH IN NIGER STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract


The strategies for developing and sustaining entrepreneurship growth has attracted wide interest in recent years following universal drive that paid more attention on growth and sustainability in addressing environmental, personal, and social issues. This study examined the strategies for developing and sustaining entrepreneurship growth in Niger State, Nigeria. The study adopted survey research design to investigate the strategies for developing and sustaining entrepreneurship growth in Niger State Nigeria. The population of the study was 658 registered entrepreneurs in the state. Using Raosoft sample size determination formula, at 95% confidence level and margin of error of 5, a sample size of 248 was used for the study. Questionnaire was the only instrument of data collection used for the study. Regression was the statistical tool used to analyze the collected data. The study found that there is a positive and significant relationship between innovative orientation, attitudinal and perceptional factors, and entrepreneurship growth and sustainability. The study equally revealed that environmental factor has negative and insignificant effect on entrepreneurship growth and sustainability. It was concluded that innovative orientation, attitudinal and perceptional factors are vital for entrepreneurship growth and sustainability in Nigeria and recommended among others that entrepreneurs are required to build a positive attitude and perceive their businesses in good light as these are most vital weapons to fight challenges and help the business grow in a competitive business environment.
